Instructions for using the Disaster Monitoring System for units under VNDMA

10:7:23, 03/09/2020 On August 24, 2020, at the meeting room of VNDMA, the Center for Disaster Policy and Technology introduced and instructed the exploitation of the Disaster Monitoring Application (App-VNDMS) for the units under VNDMA. Carrying out the assigned tasks, in 2019, the Center for Disaster Policy and Technology has developed a Disaster Monitoring Application (App-VNDMS). App-VNDMS is built and developed based on the Vietnam Disaster Monitoring System. Currently, App-VNDMS is widely used by disaster prevention workers. Participants in the meeting included representatives of units under the General Department, including a leader and a technician with knowledge of information technology.

Director General Tran Quang Hoai chaired the meeting

According to Mr. Tran Quang Hoai - Director General of VNDMA: “Currently, we have a huge database on the field of disaster prevention. However, the exploitation and use in practice are still difficult because these data are managed from many units outside the General Department. Therefore, having a system to manage, exploit and use data to serve the direction and administration of response in emergency situations is very urgent ”.

Mr. Bui Quang Huy - Deputy Director of Disaster Management Policy and Technology Center introduces and guides the use of App-VNDMS

At the meeting, the Center instructed the installation of App-VNDMS as well as introduced main functions such as: natural disaster events, disaster warning, monitoring screens, announcements, field data updates, ... especially the function of real-time notification of cases: heavy rain over 50mm / 24 hours; discharging irrigation / hydropower reservoirs, with water levels above normal rise; strong wind... After more than 1 hour of on-the-job practice, all delegates knew how to install and use the main functions of App-VNDMS for the common mission and the specific task for each unit's function. At the same time, there are also many practical and specific feedback and suggestions so that the Center can continue to improve the App-VNDMS, better serve the disaster prevention work.

At the end of the meeting, General Director Tran Quang Hoai highly appreciated the efforts of Disaster Management Policy and Technology Center in recent years to build the Vietnam Disaster Monitoring System - VNDMS, along with that is App-VNDMS. However, the Center still needs to continue to make more efforts to improve the functions of the software to help the direction and administration work more effectively.
