Yen Bai: One person died, six were injured by lightning

9:44:7, 27/04/2020 In the evening of April 23, areas of Yen Bai province had heavy rain, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and hailstones, causing one death, 6 injuries and serious damage to property.


Due to the influence of cold air combined with the wind convergence area up to 5,000m, in recent days, especially on the evening of April 23, areas of Yen Bai province experienced heavy rain, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and hail, killing one person, injuring 6 people and damage to property and crops of the people estimated over VND 12 billion.

According to a quick report of the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue in Yen Bai province, up to 7 o'clock on April 24, the whole province has one dead and 6 injured by lightning (in Mu Cang Chai district). ); nearly 800 houses were damaged; nearly 500ha of trees, crops were affected, many infrastructure works were damaged ...

Specifically, in the districts of Van Yen, Luc Yen, Tran Yen, Yen Binh, Mu Cang Chai and Yen Bai city, 8 houses completely collapsed; 45 houses with roof ripped over 70%; 30 houses with roofs ripped from 50-70%; 528 houses with roof ripped 30-30%; 41 houses with roof ripped less than 30%. In addition, 128 other houses suffered damage to thunderstorms and two houses had to relocate people and property to a safe place.

Regarding infrastructure, 7 factories in Tran Yen district and Yen Bai city were unroofed; 6 classrooms, two cultural houses in Tran Yen district were unroofed; a sewer across the road and an irrigation facility in Luc Yen district were damaged; an irrigation project in Nam Khet commune, Mu Cang Chai district was completely buried. In Yen Bai City, thunderstorms caused 20m of fences at Hop Minh Elementary and Secondary School, 5 telecommunication poles, 30 electric poles and 35 broken trees. Immediately after the occurrence of a disaster, the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue in Yen Bai districts and city quickly went to inspect and mobilize local forces to help the damaged households to overcome natural disasters; visiting and encouraging families of those who have died, been injured and overcome the damages.

District Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue is directing the communes to continue reviewing damage statistics, monitoring weather changes, keeping in touch 24/24 hours, promptly reporting when damage occurs. According to forecasts, from now until April 27, Yen Bai province will continue to have heavy rain and thunderstorms. People need to prevent whirlwinds, hail, lightning, strong winds during thunderstorms and flash floods, landslides in areas with heavy rain./.
