Chinese officials said on September 13, more than 3,900 people were evacuated after the break of the dike in Jilin province, northeastern country. Due to prolonged heavy rains and flood discharge from a reservoir upstream, the dyke of the Yinma River next to Wujiazi Village, Duc Hue City broke on the afternoon of September 13 with a crack as wide as 30 meters wide. Some houses in Wujiazi Village were submerged in flood waters. The work of overcoming and reinforcing the broken dyke is being implemented urgently. About 2,800 residents in the villages of Wujiazi and Huanzidong were evacuated. To ensure safety, 1,124 people in the downstream town of Caiyuanzi were also evacuated. There is currently no information on casualties after the dike failure. /
