Many households in Son La struggle due to lack of clean water under the hot weather

14:4:8, 04/06/2021 In order to have clean water for cooking and drinking every day, households in groups 4 and 11, in Chieng Sinh ward, Son La city have to buy each water bottle, and water for bathing, washing, washing vegetables, etc. is pond water and water. dug well.

The weather is hot, with little rain, causing water sources in group 4, group 11, Chieng Sinh ward, Son La city (Son La province) to be significantly reduced, exhausted and increasingly polluted. Group 4, group 11 currently has a dug well and about 10 small ponds, so people's worries are always present when entering the dry season.

In order to have clean water for cooking and drinking every day, the households here have to buy each water bottle, while the water for bathing, washing, washing vegetables ... is pond water, dug well water, but these water sources are not hygienic. .

Mr. Vu A Ka, group 4, group 11, Chieng Sinh ward shared that people are very short of water for daily life, especially without drinking water, mainly using pond water for daily activities. The water shortage lasts about 3-4 months and the period without rain lasts 5 months. With no rain like this time, there is still no water until June, making it very difficult for people. Especially, on sunny days, the demand for water increases.

Mr. Vu A Ka said that in the past, group 4 (Hay Phieng village before merging) was facilitated by the ward to build a water well for people in the group to live, 18 households had to alternately pump water and every 3 days a household was entitled to water. pump nearly 1 block of water.

However, this amount of water cannot be used for cooking and is not enough for people to live daily. To have water for cooking and drinking, people mainly buy it for nearly 200,000 VND/block.

Many households in group 4 are very difficult and do not have the conditions to buy water. They expect the authorities at all levels to support and create conditions to pull clean water pipes so that people can have clean water for daily life.

Having lived in group 4 for many years now, Ms. Mua Thi Denh's main source of income is mainly from farming. Prolonged hot weather and no water for irrigation have greatly affected the orchards.

Ms. Mua Thi Denh said that the trees of longan, mango, pomelo, coffee, corn, cassava... in the dry season there is no water to irrigate, they have to wait for rain. Her family has more than 3,000m2 of land for growing fruit trees, but there is no water to irrigate, so the trees are dry and fruitless.

Vice Chairman of People's Committee of Chieng Sinh ward Ca Van Dinh said that following the direction of the People's Committee of Son La city, Chieng Sinh ward directed groups and villages to review and make statistics of points and clusters. residential areas have not yet used clean water and have demand for clean water. On that basis, the ward will summarize and submit it to the city to soon provide clean water to the people.

For group 4, group 11, there are 18 households, with nearly 100 people, of which the Mong ethnic people account for 80%. After reviewing, the households have not yet used clean water, the People's Committee of the ward has assigned Professional officials coordinate with group 11 to hold meetings with the people so that everyone can register to use clean water.

The People's Committee of the ward will submit a document to the city for investment in supplying daily-life water to the people as soon as possible.
