Fast flood, a student is swept away when passing through the overflowing underground

9:55:8, 16/08/2022 A student in Lao Cai city (Lao Cai province) was swept away by water while passing through an underground overflow in Cam Duong commune.

Talking to Tuoi Tre Online on the morning of August 12, Ms. Tran Thi Hue, chairwoman of the People's Committee of Cam Duong commune, Lao Cai city, said the city's and local search and rescue forces were organizing a search for a student. Unfortunately, it was washed away by water when passing through the overflowing underground this morning.

According to Ms. Hue, around 6:15 a.m. on August 12, two children rode two electric bicycles through the underground overflow in Da 2 village. Due to the fast flow of water, one child stopped and the other continued to move. When approaching the middle of the spillway, the car began to stagger and fell over.

At this time, the water was rushing along with the car, but I still tried to follow. Then both people and cars were swept away.

Through verification, the victim is Nguyen Van H. (15 years old, in Pom Han ward, Lao Cai city).

Immediately after receiving information, local authorities mobilized forces to go along the stream to search for victims. By 8:30 a.m. still no results.

According to a quick report of the Commanding Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Hoa Binh Province, heavy rain in the area on August 11 caused damage to people and properties.

In Dong Tam commune (Lac Thuy district), there is Mr. Dinh Ngoc H. (38 years old) and his wife is Dinh Thi Ng. (35 years old, in Dong Bong village, Dong Tam commune) was swept away by water, when going through the high flooded section, it was the way to Ba Hang area.

At 11 a.m. on the same day, after the water receded, the search team found the wife's body about 70 meters away on a lawn.

Authorities are still searching for the husband's body.

And in Kim Boi commune (Kim Boi district, Hoa Binh province), on the afternoon of August 11, a 17-year-old male student (in Kim Boi commune) while casting a fish in the Boi river was swept away by water. The functional force of Kim Boi commune is still searching for the victim.

Flooding also damaged and affected 12 households in Tan Lac, Cao Phong and Da Bac districts.

About 267ha of rice and crops in Tan Lac, Cao Phong and Da Bac districts were flooded, damaged and affected. Many roads were damaged by landslides, causing traffic jams.

In Phu Tho, Mr. Kieu Duy Hien, chairman of the People's Committee of Huong Can commune (Thanh Son district), said that functional forces are searching for a victim who was swept away by water when passing through the spillway.

According to Mr. Hien, due to heavy rain, the water in rivers and streams in the area increased.

Although there were dangerous signs, prohibiting people from passing through, the two motorcyclists still tried to pass. As a result, the person sitting behind was swept away by the water.

According to Mr. Hien, the person who was swept away by the water was Nguyen Dinh C. (35 years old, from Tam Nong district, currently working as a health worker at Huong Can High School).
